Great job by McDermott this year. Great job by Stubblefield this year. Jay Wright is Jay Wright. But Cooley taking a team that was 7th in the preseason poll to win the league should win it running away, and he will.

I don't disagree but let me get our Omahanians a bit fired up... Let's say--hypothetically of course--that Creighton beats SHU on Saturday to become 8-1 in conference at home beating the other top 4 teams (VU, UCOnn, Marq and SHU) . Impressive. And let's say that PC did actually face that same Creighton team in Omaha and lost. Any maybe, just maybe that same PC team had to face UConn a 2nd time--this time with Sonogo--and dropped that game too. Not all that unlikely to lose a game to one of the top 4 teams in conference, right?

So all of a sudden PC is sitting at 15-5 without a BE RS crown and lil' ol' Creighton is sitting at 14-6 a game behind them. Look at the two lineups. Which seems more unlikely?

Hmmmmm...... woyuld def like Git's or Omaha's or Jet's take on that one.

As a creighton fan, I think the real-world results paint a clear picture. Cooley edges out McDermott by a small but not insignificant margin. You can speculate about the results if PC had played those two games, but the award shouldn't be based on speculation.

I think a better question is how the heck was PC picked to finish 7th? Watson, Reeves, Horchler, Bynum, and Croswell all returned from last year. And all but Croswell were starters last year (I think?).

Clearly Cooley is going to win the award but is it really that surprising that PC is good? Adding Durham & Minaya certainly a big reason why but usually teams with 4 returning starters aren't picked to finish in the bottom half of a league.

Has anyone on the board actually suggested Ed shouldn't win it?

Not sure this is a debate, just a matter of pointing out that there are several good candidates this year.

All three coaches are deserving in my opinion. That only one wins it, doesn’t take anything away from the merit of the other two. And the brilliance of the other two doesn’t take anything away from the winner. Congratulations, Coach Cooley!

Ed wins. He deserves it.

Next topic. First teamers could be interesting.

Excellent scenario-building Gumby. Heh, heh...

With the Champeenship - Easy Ed wins CoY...Great job Ed! And I'm NOT a ED/Prov guy...as we all know.

Now, considering Gumby's situational awareness setup: Prov has to play the cancelled games. They would
obviously lose to UConn and at the CHICO and finish behind the Radnorites. Mac or other wins CoY.
With Nova's upset loss @Hinkle this Saturday... Prov wins 1 - 3, ED wins CoY (Prov ties for champeenship.)

Visited the Boneyard tonite. I really like the evenhanded, cerebral, and measured takes of MervthePurvis.
(and yes, I'm thinking we may see them again in the BET Finals.)

ArizonaHsky, on the other hand...seems obsessed by the fact the lil cr8n has beaten the Huskies 5 straight.
He seems to think UConn's talent dwarfs the Jays. In spite of other, seasoned posters explaining that with the
Jays n the Wildcats - you know what you're gonna get. If you can't stop it, you just keep seeing it over & over.
The vets blame Hurley not adjusting well/properly.

A segment of that fanbase is in a hurry to 'get back' to elite status. They appear quite frustrated with incremental improvement(s).
It seems that their failure vs lil Cr8n is a symptom of their larger dissatisfaction. Oh well. They are gonna have chronic Creightonitis
these next 3 years...  ;)
