Tyrese Martin on NMSU's Teddy Allen is must-see TV. Teddy went to Boys Town in Omaha and is a HIGH volume scorer.

Teddy is an interesting cat. I think this is his 4th school so far after having been dismissed or asked not to return to multiple schools previously.

UConn will win by 25.

This is the surest win in the first round, ither than Villanova-Delaware and *maybe* Gonzaga- Georgia State.

I always liked how announcers would say the name of the Aggies' hometown-- "Las Cruces", usually said with a lot of saliva.

From USA Today:

Here's a look at the four best bets for first-round bracket-busting by double-digit seeds:

No. 12 New Mexico State over No. 5 UConn
The Aggies (26-6, 14-4 WAC) have the right ingredients to become a March Madness Cinderella in the classic 12-vs.-5 first round showdown – showcasing a disciplined defense and dynamic offense. Teddy Allen (19.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg) is a 6-6 guard who can spearhead an upset against the Huskies (23-9). Coach Chris Jans, a Wichita State disciple, gets the most of this team on defense and if this team can force turnovers and control the tempo vs. a tough UConn squad apt for falling into scoring lulls, there's room for NMSU to come away victorious.

sometimes I think the name teams like New Mexico St that everyone projects for upsets are less likely to pull off the big upsets. The higher seeded team takes them more seriously and is focused more than if playing a more non known team.

FWIW…a game scout from a work peer who is a college hoops junky and grad of New Mexico. Has watched NMS a handful of times. He said: “They like to muck the game up…junk yard dog type of team…lower skill/high motor type team…not a good shooting team, they rely on attacking the O glass and scoring on put backs… they are not used to playing vs teams with better athletes than them…if UConn can control the glass even a little bit, they’ll win fairly easily…if game gets ugly, NMSt will be very comfortable..”

Sounds like UConn is the kryptonite of what NMSt excels at. I like the matchup if I’m a Husky fan (and I am for the next 3 weeks).
