Dayton will be announced when Val and the Presidents finalize the TV deal. She is pushing them hard to step up and not be left behind. The Tourney is going to expand and the BIG East will add schools. Don’t post a lot only when I am sure done deal.

It might be a pipe dream to get Kansas, ND or Duke for example but 11 is just fine if we can’t.

I know one of the common fears with Gonzaga is what happens when Few retires...however, what if waiting is bad for that? Having them in the Big East already might make them getting (and keeping) a quality coach an easier get, which then helps everyone; Big East gets/keeps a quality program, and Gonzaga stays relevant.

Duly noted. No need to post about it here again. I’m asking nicely. Thanks.

Gonzagas brand also might falter in the Big East. Finishing a season with 8 to 10 losses as opposed to 1 or 2 currently will kill their yearly narrative a bit.

I still support adding Gonzaga. Keep round robin and 22 games.

Would accept immediately if available:
Gonzaga.
Notre Dame.

Trending up:
San Francisco Dons.
Carleton of Ottawa.

At Least They Give A Sh-t:
Dayton.

No Change In Status::
VCU.

Sominex, Whose Fans Couldn't Name One Big East School::
Saint Louis.

Sominex, Whose Fans Can Name Many Big East Schools:
St Bonaventure.

School In Perfect Location That Just Cannot Get To Next Level:
Northeastern.

Schools In Good Locations That Have Regressed And Have No Chance:
Boston U
Holy Cross
Duquesne

Someone To Watch In 20 Years:
St Thomas Tommies of St Paul.

Someone to Watch In 30 Years:
Bellarmine.

If geography is the only excuse, that's not a good reason not to do it. As we we've seen countless times, proactive conferences thrive while reactive conferences get left behind.

Hopefully Nova keeps their new blue blood status going forward, but with Jay gone nothing's guaranteed. Our league enters the great unknown now that he's gone. They've carried us with their March runs and helped keep us a legitimate conference after the restructuring 10 years ago. We need another school that can achieve Final Four status on a yearly basis. It's important to keep improving on the momentum the league's had, not stay stagnant. What good would it do us to add Gonzaga after our new TV deal? What's the point in waiting... wait just for the sake of waiting? We need to position ourselves in the best possible light for us get a big pay raise in 2025. They'll be joining on July 1, 2025, if not sooner.

The Big 10 is football expansion and all the money that goes with it. Not really an apples to apples comparison.

Gonzaga will always join the BE if invited. What other option do they have. Let them simmer on the back burner until the craziest with the B12, PAC and ACC settles itself out. Maybe someone better than Gonzaga shakes out. It’s not like staying at 11 hurts the BE.

I agree with your overall assessment. However, and obviously, if we ever add a team from the A10, it should be URI.

Lol.

PC just agreed to accept UConn from 50 miles away.

Dayton is 54 miles from Cincinnati.

UCONN had been a member of the Big East before. Different situation.

Besides, with respect to them coming back, the decision was a no-brainer for the conference.
