Not to keep babbling, but Purdue, rewarded with a #1 above UConn, for a big week of beating Hofstra and a 3-pt home [edit: game was in Lincoln, (thanks Savannah)] win vs Nebraska. Meanwhile St John's getting no love for beating no one, except a 20-point win over Nebraska.

Like this circular argument drives me nuts.

This is not a defense of Pur-don't or the Fuskers, but the game was in Lincoln.

And still not defending the Fuskers, but Derrick Walker didn't play in the SJU game. He's been their leading scorer since getting on the floor starting with the Memphis game (which makes me hopeful that the L doesn't become a total resume shitburger).

All that aside, your point is well taken...expecting common sense from a poll is setting the table for weekly disappointment/frustration/chuckles.

Regarding our boy Kalk, I went to the Maui tournament and he clearly was not himself.

Yup... Case in point, 3 AP voters ranked Alabama ahead of UConn... :?

And get well soon Kalk.

Not a fan of opinion polls, but I do like performance based power ratings. Here’s how the Big East stand in the latest Sagarin ratings:

CONFERENCES

1. Big XII
2. Big Ten
3. Big East
4. SEC
5. PAC 12
6. ACC

TEAMS

1. UConn
22. Xavier
32. Marquette
36.Creighton
48. Providence
53. Butler
56. St. John’s
58. Villanova
61. Seton Hall
135. DePaul
146. Georgetown

problem is Sagarin I think still has last year baked into it. so does Ken Pom.

If you look at the NET right now:
1 Big 12 33.60
2 Big Ten 55.21
3 SEC 79.29
4 Big East 85.09
5 Pac 12 93.83
6 MWC 95.00
7 ACC 113.87
8 WCC 117.10
9 AAC 146.00
10 CUSA 148.73

Pac 12 has closed out pretty well here- definitely a lot better than a few weeks ago.

And lol ACC. Have to think that's gonna cost them come tourney time.

We’re a dozen games into the season, so I think that any ‘21-‘22 bias has sorted itself out by now. When I compare Sagarin to TeamRankings.com, they look pretty similar to me.

With last night’s win, Villanova jumped up to #49 and St. John’s dropped to #64.
