Down 2 at half, not as bad as I expected.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

As other people have said (I think), no team eliminated themselves this weekend (though teams like Xavier certainly didn't help their case) but as whole we just don't look strong.

As I've been saying for weeks, we have a LOT of good, not great teams. When these teams just beat up on each other in the conference and finish with good, not great records then it's going to come down to their OOC schedules and to a lesser extent how the rest of the conference fared during the OOC slate. Right now, that doesn't look anything more than average. I still think there are 8 teams who have the opportunity to make a tournament caliber resume (sorry Seton Hall and DePaul) but making that resume is going to involve stringing together a group of conference wins. When these teams are playing each other that is going to become impossible for all of those 8 teams (or even 4-5 most likely) to do that.

Trust me, I want to see the Big East get 5 or 6 bids but if you still say that you think that is going to happen after most of what we've witnessed this weekend then I think you are just being a Big East homer. I just honestly think we are a 4 bid conference right now and part of me even thinks that may be too optimistic.

Still waiting.... Which 6-7 teams are out because of this weekend?

We won't know until conference play, but the thing now is everyone but Nova has at least 2 losses. So that's at most 11-2 OOC. You add to that 6th place team going 8-10, and that's 19-12. That's almost never good enough to make the tourney, short of a run maybe into the finals of the BET. It's going to be almost impossible for us to get 6 teams in, and frankly 5th may be in the same boat. There's only so many conference wins to go around.

the big thing for Providence now- they can't let Kentucky beat them again on Thursday night vs Rhode Island.

Do you seriously not understand the logic behind what I'm saying? It really isn't all that difficult to comprehend...

think this may be also more about how good Kentucky is. They've looked really good. Not perfect by any stretch- but they're going to be a handful this year....

I agree. Reluctantly. Very impressive.

You have no idea what the bubble this year is going to look like. To say what teams usually get in with was mostly before the NCAAT was expanded again and it was before the BE exploded. The BE isn't the only conference with a weaker SOS in-conference. The conference strength of schedule has gone down for some former BE schools too like Lousville, Uconn, & Cincy. The A-10 lost Butler & X. Not saying it wouldn't be hard butI think a 19-11 team can make the NCAAT.

Butler- 5-2 so far. tough OOC game with Purdue left. best case 9-2 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 17-12.
Creighton- 5-2 so far. tough OOC game with Cal(plus Nebraska) left. Best case 10-2 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 18-12
DePaul 4-3 so far. Tough OOC game with Ariz St (plus Northwestern) left. Best case 10-3 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 18-13
Georgetown 4-2 so far. Tough OOC games with Kansas, Mich St left. Best case 10-2 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 18-12
Marquette 5-2 so far. Tough OOC games with SD St, Wisconsin, New Meixco left. Best case 11-2 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 19-12.
Providence 7-2 so far. Tough OOC game with UMass left. Best Case 11-2 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 19-12.
Seton Hall 4-3 so far. Nothing tough left for them. Best Case 10-3 entering conference play. 8-10 added would equal 18-13.
St John's 5-2 so far. Tough OOC game with Syracuse left. Best case 11-2. 8-10 added would equal 19-12.
Villanova 7-0 so far. Tough OOC game with Syracuse left(plus Big 5 games). Best Case 13-0. 8-10 would equal 21-10.
Xavier 4-3 so far. Tough OOC games with Cincy, Alabama, and Wake Forest. Best Case 9-3. 8-10 would equal 17-13.

Looking, only Nova can feel really safe if they went 8-10 in conference play. Only 3 could even get to 19-12. That's why 6th place team likely has no chance of making the tourney.

I believe 5 is not out of question. Saying 3-4 bid league is premature.
