I apologize to the Big East fans for getting baited by this A10 guy, but I had to look it up. Using KenPom which is much better than RPI early in the season, the Big East has 3 teams in the Top 25 - Nova, GTown, Creighton. The first A10 teams are VCU at 24 and UMass at 26.

Let the facts speak.

The A10 has had a very strong start to the season. However, even with that they are 8 in almost every cpu rating- just behind the SEC.

I think the one thing though that favors the A10 is they don't have a round robin, and they only have 4 2x games per school. So they can gerrymander the schedule to make it where top teams aren't seeing the dogs twice- which really helps the top teams RPI. That's why they will get as many teams as we do most likely into the tournament- because they aren't beating the tar out of each other.

He is right, we do need more OOC wins though against good teams.

The A10 and Big East could get the same number of bids but the division if income is completely different. The long term prospect of the Big East is much better.

RPI means zero right now. Read my earlier post. Christ, I'm done with this guy.

Basically, the A10 would need to win 1 more game in the tourney to get the money equal.

I'd say the long term prospect is better than the A10 because we can raid them at any point. Or the AAC could raid them and take UMass. They lose UMass, VCU, and SLU- they would be left with Dayton and..... But until they are raided, in any individual season, they are a threat.

I'm assuming he's a Dayton fan. If you've ever ventured over to UDPride (I don't really suggest doing so) they absolutely live by RPI as the end all be all of college basketball, regardless of what time of year it is.

I generally try to stay impartial, but let's be honest here: It's pretty difficult to make a determination about either league based on a poll that has UMASS #1.

pretty much all of the computers have UMass in the top 15.

UMass could be a very dangerous team. They're not projected to lose in Massey until March 1. Individual game in Ken Pom- same thing. He's got them going 23-7(if you have 2 games where you are like 55% favorites, in his overall record he gives you 1 win and 1 loss). They have a top 10 sos so far.

KenPom.com has them 26th apparently. And their Top 10 SOS a month into the season will change significantly once conference play begins.
