New Year's Eve - Villanova at Butler 7:30pm ET FS1

It will be a historic day on December 31, 2013 when three new members begin conference play. I will create a special thread/poll for each contest so we can discuss them throughout the day.

Villanova's only beaten Kansas and Iowa this season, so it's not like they're anything special. Butler will play 2-3 zone for the first time all year and win. Trip will urinate all over Jay Wright's Versace suit during pre-game introductions and force him to miss the game while he tries to find an open dry cleaners on New Year's Eve, and Rollie Massimino will attempt to coach the team via Facetime, but the poor wireless connection in Hinkle will result in poor execution by the Wildcats.

In all seriousness, I was really hoping Villanova would beat the 'Cuse today so that they might overlook the Dawgs. They're a really good team this year with a ton of weapons and definitely won't be happy headed in to Hinkle after today. Hoping for a great game, and if I'm lucky, a Butler win.

I expect perhaps the toughest road trip of the season at Hinkle on 12/31. With that said I think Nova is the best BE team right now, and I think the SU loss fires them up a bit. Butler jumps out early but Nova reels them in the 2H and wins by 4-5 down the stretch. Two teams that win with energy and will battling in wek 1 will be a great matchup. Here we go. This is gonna be fun!!!
Go Nova!

Butler by 6. Hinkle will soon have the reputation on the east coast that it does in the midwest. Good teams come here to lose. Go Dawgs!

Last I read in the Indy Star, 2000 tickets were available. Hopefully they will sell.

2000 tickets for your first ever Big East game against a top ranked Villanova team????? Also a Butler team that is exceeding expectations. Very disappointing if that is the case, come on Bulldogs!

Sounds about right considering this is the first year students are actually issued tickets. Since its break they released many of those to the public. Combine that with nye plans and you've got extra tix floating around. Still pretty disappointing but I'd expect some last minute buyers to pop up leading up to and on game day. Sorta along the lines of your average joe Hoosier saying "hey butlers playing #11 nova, sure I'll go to that"

For what its worth the Marquette and gtown games are about to be sellouts per the bu ticket office twitter so there's that!

butler having trouble selling tickets?

Postby Friarfan2 » Sat Dec 28, 2013 11:19 pm

Thousand of unsold tickets for their season opener against villanova?

What is going to happen for a weeknight game versus seton hall or depaul?

This is a problem!!
