I'm not certain, but if memory serves Coach McDermott signed a 10-year contract when he arrived in 2010. So he will probably be here in 2020.

Not trying to pile on but I find it curious that Creighton has maintained a relatively good but not great profile under McDermott. If Doug is as great as we all think he is, one would think that these teams would have risen above the Jays teams from years past. Instead its a steady stream of nice regular seasons and quiet postseasons.

This leads me to question if Doug is over hyped or if dad is in for a rude awakening come next year.

Long time lurker, but had to respond to this. Creighton has won 57 games the past two seasons in the MVC and the best seed they could get was an 8/9. You know what that means and indeed that is how it played out: a win in the 1st round and a matchup with a 1 seed in the next round. We drew UNC/Duke in each of the last two years after wins against Alabama and Cincinnati.

It's hard to have any success in the tournament when you're winning nearly 30 games and conference championships and yet you can't do any better than an 8/9. This has always been the case for Creighton in the tournament as a member of the MVC.

Yeah, and this year they're looking currently at a 6 or 7 seed in bracketology. Not that much better.

Actually the studies show it's much better to be a 10 seed and get to face the 7 and then #2 seed than it is to face the 8 or 9 seed and then face the #1 seed, so a 6 seed would definitely be a big step up from an 8 seed.

last year you were a 7 seed. Not much of a difference from a 2 to a 3.

I like Creighton as a program and have for a long time.

That said, I worry about them turning into Tulsa. Remember when Tulsa had Bill Self and Tubby Smith? Solid run with NCAA success. They make one suspect hire and look at them now. To me, Creighton's L.A.D. (Life after Doug) will be very telling.

They have a great building and probably the best fans in the league -- just need to keep it cranking beyond this year.

We can ignore the conference wins stat to save the argument about MVC vs Big East.

Jays may be down a bit next year but they will not be falling into the abyss long term.

with 4 of those 6 years being NIT/CBI/CIT. In one of your years you beat Rhode Island. Another year- Bowling Green. Another year South Dakota and Fairfield. 4th year San Jose St, Davidson, UCF, and Oregon(who was sub .500 entering the postseason).

In those 6 years- Creighton is 1-11 vs top 25 teams. You say don't get many of those at home. True- 0-5 away. But 0-2 at home and 1-4 neutral.

compare to just the 2 new teams same time frame-
Butler- 12-17 with 11-14 home/neutral. Xavier- 10-12 9-9 home/neutral.

There are questions about Creighton that just aren't there with Butler or Xavier.

I think we will definitely be rebuilding next year, when you lose 4 experienced seniors and one of them is an All-American, you can't expect to be as good the next year. I think the key for Coach Mac is the 2015 recruiting class. We have alot of scholarships for that year and the type of class we land will help dictate how we do in the future.

Let's create a 'haven't proven shit on a national level' category and put CU in it. Since if I distilled most of what people are saying, that would about cover it. It'll be a nice bookend to the 'pretty good chance they struggle in the new BE since it's a big adjustment from the Valley' mantra that went on until recently (coincidentally).
