I understand the concern about Creighton after this year. We will lose a ton of experience in McDermott, Wragge, Gibbs, and Manigat. Next year will be interesting, but I wouldn't be surprised if we still manage something like 5th or 6th in the conference. Altman/McD have created a system here, and we have some good players coming in, both redshirts and some new recruits. Plus, as we saw with Dingman tonight (after Gibbs went down), when the players on the bench finally get a chance for serious PT, they look better than when they only play 8-10 minutes. As far as long term, keep in mind there is serious money in the CU program....McDermott makes I think (with incentives) close to 1.5 mil. I don't know how that stacks up with other Big East coaches, but I feel confident McDermott ain't going to be leaving for some low level Big 10 or Big 12 job. If a top tier job comes calling, who knows, but the same could be said of most other programs in the the Big East.

Just an FYI but it's Bembo, not Bimbo, it just sounds like it on their commercials...

Jays 4 3 wrote:Lots of the same questions Kyle Korver's senior year, I realize it was pre Big East, but if anyone watched the DePaul game The consistent Creighton graphic stated:

20+ Wins 14 of the last 15 years (1 of 9 schools)
6 straight years with a postseason win (1 of 5 schools)
We can ignore the conference wins stat to save the argument about MVC vs Big East.

Jays may be down a bit next year but they will not be falling into the abyss long term.

Exactly. Early on a lot of people saying Creighton couldn't adjust to the physical play of the big east and how would they adjust this year. Now, it's moved back a year with out Doug and my goodness who will be our coach in 2020? Really? I believe the answer is to ignore steaver and Friar Fan2 who seem to have no life and get their jollies insulting teams and programs and hoping for some debate. Creighton has the commitment, the resources, the facilities and the fan base to be an asset of the big east long term. Accomplishing what we have playing in the Valley has been great but seeding is important in the tournie and the last two years we have gone against #1 seeds in the second game. WSU didn't have that and yes we have competed and won like 13-2 in the last two or three years against BCS conferences. Again, proud to be in the big east and great this is a opinion board that really doesn't mean much as far as results will go. I'm hoping for continued success for the other programs and outside of a couple of trolls, I believe most are hoping for Creighton's continued success. As someone else stated, we like the redshirts and recruits we have signed and Creighton will continue to recruit quality kids that fit the program ( maybe with a little more access to even more top level athletes too).

I think everyone has wondered how Creighton would be next year w/o the best player in your schools history. There are a lot of questions with Creighton- who in the last 6 years has only made the NCAA tourney(you know, the one that matters) 2x (and those 2 times with McDermott). So he goes now, and we're just supposed to think all is going to be hunky dory with you?

Also you didn't go up against a #1 seed last year in the 2nd round. Duke was a #2 seed(and you were a #7 seed). Right now, Bracketology has you as a 6 or 7 seed. Not much difference from last year.

I'm hoping Creighton will fare well- but to say they're on the same level as Georgetown, Marquette, and Villanova (along with Butler and Xavier)- is a complete joke. Creighton has NEVER been to the 2nd weekend of the NCAA tourney. All 5 of those others have been to at least the elite 8 within the last 5-6 years(with 4 of the 5 going to the final 4).

And what in the hell is a message board supposed to be if it's not for some debate? To just come on here to affirm what you think? Give me a break. This board to me is great because there is a very good debate of anything and everything. I might not agree with everything folks say, but it's a debate.

Creighton has not made 17 straight ncaa tournaments. They have made 9 in 20 yrs, with only 3 games won.

Where did you get that 17 straight number? That is redonkulous.

I reread the thread and nowhere did anyone say that Creighton went to 17 straight ncaa tourney. I guess that make you a "redonkulous" poster.

Oh, and it's four games won. Not that it makes much difference, but it does prove that you can't count.

$1.5 mil would put mcdermot at about 40th nationally. Definitely enough to keep him long term (more than buzz williams makes). Jay wright is the top paid in the conference at $2.4 mil, which makes him about 10th nationall, and oliver purnell is second at $2.1 mill, which makes people scratch their heads. Jtiii is about 1.8 mill.

Someone said that creighton made 17 consecutive post seasons. I looked it up, that person is lying. Creighton has been to the post season only 9 times in the past 20 years, with only 4 wins in the postseason tournament. Feel free to look it up for yourself and tell me which 8 yrs I am missing (and if you post nit or cbi or cti or whatever tournaments, I will create an online petition to kick creighton out of the league, because only losers count those tournaments. Big east teams fire coaches for going to the nit, not praise them)
