It cost West Virginia 20 million to get out. We are getting paid $1.5 mil to leave when we want...

Also not all that money goes to cincy uconn and south fla. Temple will get a prorated 1 year football share... ND and Louisville and Rutgers will also get cuts of the WV, Pitt and Syracuse money, prorated of course. While it will still be a windfall for the 3 abandoned bcs teams its no where near 30 million a piece.

The latest (sort of) from ESPN:

The so-called Catholic 7, which is expected to add at least two more members before it begins competition in the 2013-14 school year, is made up of Georgetown, St. John's, Villanova, Seton Hall, Providence, Marquette and DePaul. Butler, Xavier and Creighton also will join the league, which will begin play in 2013, sources told McMurphy.

The new Big East has a television deal from Fox waiting for it, though it still needs to hire a commissioner and set up a league office.

As part of the Catholic 7 schools' exit agreement with the Big East, the schools will keep all of their NCAA tournament units, sources told McMurphy

Will each school keep their own or is it divided as a pool?

Don't know my guess they will have the school that earned it get a half and the other half get split equally among all the league members... I don't know if they will split the unit payouts for the next 5 years with the incoming schools although it seems silly not too. Yeah you can make some money but its not enough for the ill will.

Not so fast---the football shools have rights to a payoff between 80-85% of the general revenue---bb schools get only share of bb ncaa and small amount of exit and enterance fees---no football bowl money not tv $ from football. Let's use the low side of the pot as it sits today---at least reported---the $110M; so 80% is $88M to the football schools which leaves $22M for the C7 (acually 8 for ND is a non-football member)----Reortedly the C7 got $10M plus the MSG and the league name, history etc. That cost was $12 (the $22M-$10M==$12M) for the MSG, league history, etc. It will be like all the football schools left the league for ask GU how long they have been in the league and they can say "since the beginning".

So that cost $12M, BUT Fox is paying $3m per school per year for new bb only Big
East---so each school is ahead or about equal after the first year---they control the league RATHER THAN SECOND CLASS TO FOOTBALL, HAVE SIMILAR SIZED SCHOOLS, ALL PRIVATE. Does not look expensive to me??? Year 2 and on way, way ahead-----------

Anyone know if there will be any type of entrance fee for the new schools to help with what was effectively the purchase price of the naming and MSG rights? I know people hate the tiered TV revenue thing, but is that still on the table?

The latest indications were that all exit fees and startup costs would come out of the media money pool first,, then the rest would be equally divided.
