Its only logical that less travel would be a good thing for the student athletes and fans. But that doesn't matter to the presidents looking for a paycheck. Your Proximetly to Xavier and Indianapolis might be a draw back not a bonus. Fox Sports 1 is a new network looking for a large footprint to drive subscriber rights, that is what will wag the tail.

UD has some great things going for it (large stadium, high attendance, loyal fan base, etc). UD might even have great olympic sports (I honestly don't know. I don't care about the olympics, I definetly don't care about college olympic sports), but lets be honest how much weight does that even have. I could see soccer being important, since the sport keeps gaining in popularity. But I don't see why Fox would care about volleyball, or track.

On the Vollyball side - which is getting more and more interest and TV exposure this is the final RPI from last year of the potential new Big East

19 - Dayton
24 - Creighton
33 - Marquette
54 - Xavier
112 - St. John's
121 - Seton Hall
140 - Butler
179 - Saint Louis
200 - Depaul
215 - Villanova
219 - Georgetown
327 - Providence (Plays in the America East Conference)

There are 330 Teams in Women's Volleyball - Richmond does not play women's Volleyball

The Dayton - Creighton - Marquette - Xavier Matches will be good ones.

Hey and why not do the RPI rankings for this season for Women's Basketball.

11 - Dayton
23 - Depaul
24 - Villanova
26 - Creighton
38 - St. John's
57 - Marquette
58 - Georgetown
98 - Richmond
104 - Butler
197 - Providence
202 - Xavier
203 - Seton Hall
210 - Saint Louis

There are 345 Women's teams.

Looks like 5 locks and two other bubble teams this year for the Tournament.

I was just a reason why, if all 12 were not included right away that Dayton should be in ahead of Creighton. Not necessarily giving a case why Dayton should be invited ahead of someone. SLU seems like the logical stop over for teams traveling to Creighton.

As a UD fan I am well aware that we have a ton of very good Olympic sports, especially on the women's side. Unfortunately I highly doubt that will have anything to do with the teams selected. It may break a tie but it will be far down the tiebreaker list after whatever Fox wants and Men's basketball performance and possibilities.

Other than closer proximity to more Big East schools, not sure where Dayton is better than Creighton in ANY category. Maybe your women's basketball is ranked higher but Creighton is expected to make it this year in for women's basketball and made it last year, made it the last two years in volleyball, made it the last two years in baseball and made it to the final four the last two years in soccer. I doubt they are gonna invite Dayton over Creighton so they can save on travel for one year. Since our exit fee is nearly nothing, they'd probably save money taking Creighton over Dayton who would have to pay 2 million in exit fees to leave next year.

Kind of one important one - TV Market size - specifically to how it relates to Markets that watch College Basketball.

http://www.nielsen.com/content/dam/corp ... ration.pdf

Dayton is about 19% larger TV market than Omaha.

That all Said - I am really hoping the 5 new teams are Butler, Creighton, Dayton, SLU, and X. And I really don't care the order they are added - just as long as they are announced together and are all in by the 2014/15 season.

The only factor I can even think of that would place Dayton ahead of Richmomd is attendance. It is also the factor that doesn't benefit anyone other than Dayton. The Spiders are the correct choice for 12.

Fortunately you and I aren't making the decision. The only factor I can see that would place Richmond ahead of Dayton is proximity to the east coast.

I have to disagree. Obviously, a flyers fan, but Dayton has an amazing alumni base, great attendance, and an awesome college basketball market. I can only justify Richmond just because Georgetown wants a friend. That is IT. I swear I am not a homer, but I had to respond to that.
