Wow, that's a huge pickup. Would not be shocked as well to see him in the morning simulcasting his radio show quite frankly.... Probably outside of Gus Johnson and Raft- the best pickup they've made...

think i would also add about Brando- it's kind of reminiscint of back in 94 when Fox picked up the NFL. Them getting Pat Summerall was just crucial- he just had a gravitas about him. Brando isn't Summerall, but he has thru the years built up a lot of gravitas as well.

This is a HUGE pickup. Most people assumed he would sign with ESPN and the SEC Network. Here is his statement with an article. He will be calling Big East games for sure.

“So excited to have joined the Fox Sports team at FOX & FOXSports1, covering CFB weekly in the BIG12 & PAC12 plus the BIG EAST & others in College Basketball. Many thanks to their leadership, John Entz & Eric Shanks, along with their many reliable professionals in production & on air talent for already welcoming me.

As many of you know Brett McMurphy of ESPN broke a story a few weeks ago about a potential agreement between the SEC Network and yours truly. While I value their interest and wish them well, Football was never part of their short term vision for my future. I want to thank them and the SEC for their interest and wish them nothing but the best.”

This is in addition to the recent signings of Adam Wojnarowski (NBA insider) and Stewart Mandel (SI columnist for college football/basketball). So now we have Tim Brando, Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery calling Big East games? I guarantee part of this deal is to agree to simulcast his radio show on FS1, which makes sense considering Mike Francesa and FS1 are not getting along. Not too shabby...

No doubt FS1's ratings don't look good. But it was their infancy. When did they open, September? If in 5 years the ratings are still like that then I would start to worry. But lets give it time, I bet we see improvement year over year.

yeah, there's no denying FS1's ratings weren't good. But, I really would say them luring Brando is such a game changer. I think having a guy like him in the stable will do nothing but help Fox when Big Ten negotiations come around in a few years. Also- wouldn't be shocked if you see 1-2 guys from ABC or CBS move over to Fox- not only helping football/basketball- but also building their golf commentary team that they're absolutely going to need.

We do also have to consider the alumni bases here. One glaring challenge to the BE schools is we're tiny. These big state schools in the other big conferences have hundreds of thousands of alumni to draw television interest from.

yes and no. What is ESPN's most watched basketball game ever? St John's/Georgetown in 1985. You get t-shirt fans and more attention when you are really good like 85 was. The question is going to be, can we get that dominant again?
