NY does not border Ohio. Also I have lived in Cincinnati my whole life, trust me Ohio is the Midwest.

Well yes you do need to drive through a small bit of PA so unless you count Canada the closest US city to NY State on its westerm boundry is Ohio.

In any event, Ohio is not a long trip for the 5 BB7 members located on the east coast and certainly not a travel problem or a reason to call Dayton a geograpic difference maker comparred to Richmond.

Thanks for kind words for us downtrodden DePaul fans. Hopefully we will step up our efforts and become a more respectable member.

The closest eastern school to Dayton is a 7 hour drive. The closest eastern school to Richmond is a 90 minute drive. Dayton is a midwest school and there is a geographic difference no matter how you slice it.

You realize that Richmond is a bus or train trip for 4 of the 5 east cost BB7 members. Would think all of the east coast teams would have to fly all of their sports to Dayton. Yes Richmond is not close to Providence, but Georgetown, Nova, Seton Hall and SJU are all within 6 hours or less driving to Richmond.

Well you have about fifty miles of PA to go through and I don't think the fine people of Erie, PA would agree with you. Also I'm not sure which one of the eastern schools is any where near the western corner of ny. That does change that fact that their is a significant geography gap from the five eastern schools to Ohio. Let alone the western part where Xavier and Dayton are located. Nor does it change the fact that Ohio is a Midwestern state.

Providence is 1,100 miles from Dayton and 600 miles from Richmond
NYC is 640 miles from Dayton and 340 miles from Richmond
Nova is 540 miles from Dayton and 250 miles from Richmond
Georgetown is 490 miles from Dayton and 100 miles from Richmond

So, for Georgetown and perhpas Nova Richmond Richmond is a bus hop. For the other eastern schools, a plane ride is a plane ride.

In any eventy, my only point is basing a school to be in or out because of bus trips is pretty short sighted and makes no business sense. The goal is for the long term success of members, TV money etc. I really do not have an iron in this fire but am just responding to what I think is silly logic for those either opposed to Dayton or very pro Richmond.

If Richmond is serious about big time BB, you better begin to think about charter planes, tutors, practice facilities etc. if you want to recruit top 100 players on a consistent baasis. Of coure you could always choose to spend the $3M plus on baseball.

Butler. StL and Dayton seem to work out just fine in the A10 with no sports travel issues I know about so????? Perhaps the A10 should kick out all school with more than a bus ride from some central point - which seems to be in Virginia.

Richmond already takes charters to all away games. Has all the tutors they need, look at UR's APR numbers. Richmond is currently renovating their arena, but a new practice facility is next. Though the Spiders can practice at the Robin Center whenever they want to, so I am not sure that is as big an issue. UR spends as much on Basketball as anyone in the A10. Money is not really an issue for the school or athletic department.

Here we go with Friar Tuck casting stones at a school that actually fields intercollegiate football and baseball teams again.

I guess when you support an athletics program with as many warts as the Providence athletic department, it's soothing to judge others.

BostonSpider, you are aware that Friar Tuck's mailman's brother is on the Providence BoT, so he's completely in tune with everything that's going on, right?

Dayton's in and we're out. Friar Tuck says so. Move on.

wow... i take a break for a day and come back to find that someone tried to move Ohio to the east coast and that some poster with all of 6 posts managed to get the entire midwestern basketball fan base accused of wanting to get rid of Depual. Looks like you guys solved both pretty quick... Hey on a side note everyone in the Midwest who knows anything about basketball knows about Depauls history and what it brings to the table after all they did play in both the Great Midwest and Conference USA for longer periods of time than the played in the Big East. I don't think anyone with any real brains wants DePaul out and I as well as most think they will rise again. I also can vouch for midwestern fans, if you ever see anybody post something about the university of Illinois Chicago, that person is probably trolling. ;)
