Preference: Richmond

Postby cm5yz6 » Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:53 am

Over the past week or so, it seems that there is a growing sentiment that the non-Richmond/non-Dayton fans of the new Big East are beginning to slightly prefer the inclusion of Richmond over Dayton. Can I get a poll of which school C7/Xavier/Butler/Creighton/STL fans prefer? I understand that it seems that everyone would be generally happy with either, but if you had to pick (which is indeed the case) who would you prefer?

this is really unfair as i like both Richmond and Dayton...

But if Slu gets in and I was forced to choose, I would choose Dayton... It has a bigger fan following, a soccer team, and its a catholic school.

Regardless of who is picked I hope we schedule the other in OOC.

Tough Choice. I love the X/UD rivalry, but in the Big East there will be bigger fish to fry, so I would have to go with Richmond, to minimize the recruiting competition with UD.

As Bill stated, I really like both Dayton and Richmond and will be happy with either. Both are good adds. I do know that I, as well as a solid majority of Nova's region (at least everyone I've spoken with) prefer Richmond for a few simple reasons.
1 - We like the 6/6 team balance of midwest and east schools.
2 - Richmond will offer lacrosse, and we love lacrosse.
3 - Richmond is already a familiar rival, as we are both in the CAA for FCS football.

Again, I certainly don't speak on behalf of all Nova fans, but I'm yet to speak with one that doesn't like Richmond. And from what I hear, the higher ups are siding with GU on this as well. I'm fairly certain Nova Nation is in Richmond's corner.

Not a big preference either way for me. I started out more in Dayton's corner and still think their fan support is hard to pass up, but grabbing another school in the East which is not Catholic seems like it might not be a bad idea. If Georgetown and Nova want Richmond, I think we should placate them.

I don't have a strong preference, but I'm in the Spiders corner. I like another east coast team, and I like the idea of going after the ACC in their territory, both for recruiting and eyes. IF we didn't already have an Ohio team, my position would reverse.

Richmond. East Coast bias. But if it ends up being Dayton that's perfectly fine too.
