Gonzaga?

The home for Big East hoops

I've always thought that expansion would come in two phases:

1) Phase one - go to 10 or 12 teams by adding eastern and midwestern schools.

2) Phase two - go from either 10 or 12 to anywhere from 12 to 16, adding midwestern and west coast schools.

Gonzaga in phase two seems more likely simply because there are a lot more issues to get worked out. Evaluate whether BYU would be a viable option, see which, if any, western schools may be interested and weigh the appeal and benefit of each. Gonzaga is much more appealing if there is a travel partner of some sort, especially when considering olympic sports.

There is 0% chance that the league goes beyond 12 teams, even if it gets there. Most of the league prefers 10, I'm not sure where this idea came from that they'd dilute their income for programs they are frankly moderate about

Zags move up to #1 in AP poll. It's too bad they are in no mans land or adding them would be such a coup.

Because we'd all love to pay to fly the woman's field hockey team to Washington

I'm sure Gonzaga was good and all, but I saw them play pretty poorly in each of their NCAA games. They could've lost to the 16. The Zags losing tonight to a team I saw Doug McDermott light up for 40+ is inexcusable.

"Inexcusable" losing to Wichita State?

You got hammered by a team that lost by double digits to Lipscomb.

You need to talk to your therapist about "projectionism" Hoya

The Shox are good, and that win was no fluke. They also won at VCU this year.

Why are you so surprised Gonzaga lost to Wichita State? The Shockers just beat a good Pitt team by 18 points and GU barely got past the first round. After watching the Big 10 teams playing yesterday, Gonzaga probably would have finished in 5th place in that league (which is still very good).

I only saw Wichita State twice during the season and they lost both games to Creighton. I think Wichita State would have been luck to finish top 5 in the Big East or Big Ten.
