I would rather lose if it means we can get Bellarmine as an associate member. That team would help make Big East Lacrosse profitable, it wouldn't be the only factor but an important first step.

Bellarmine would be a good add for us, we definitely need more lacrosse schools. Would you mind updating the thread with a link on gameday?
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Could adding Bellarmine help the Big East land Johns Hopkins? I know they are considering conference affiliation too. Adding a lax first school like Bellarmine would show JH that we're serious about the sport. Nova and St John's are no slouches too.

If Bellarmine helped our cause wouldn't Maryland help the B1G's even more? I suppose our lacrosse schools are a lot closer for Johns Hopkins, though. I don't know, but it's hard to see John Hopkins coming our way. It'd be great to get both, though, adding affiliates where they aren't in any other Di sports just feels like a clean arrangement.

Big day for Marquette, today, though, first ever home game for the program, against Detroit.

Honestly I think adding Bellarmine and then stealing Denver and/or Air Force all ECAC schools would be huge for landing John Hopkins. I think those three would have interest in joining as they will always have good lacrosse programs but they are traveling way to far once the B1G starts lacrosse the closest schools to Denver and Air Force other than each other is Bellarmine if we steal Bellarmine the closest school to them is in Geneva, NY more than 1500 miles away. We can offer them at least three schools closer than that with existing members(Marquette, Georgetown, Villanova), 4 if we add Bellarmine, 5 if we add both of them. I know that this sounds weird but the Big East Lacrosse league could be great if we focus on adding schools not on the east coast. ECAC is soon to fall apart and we need to take advantage of it, it is not falling apart because the teams are bad. I think if you get these three schools in place you could definitely add John Hopkins. If this was all positioned right things could fall into place quite well for us.

While Georgetown and Nova might technically be closer, I don't think that kind of distance matters cross country. I have a hard time seeing how adding two schools in Colorado is good for a lacrosse conference primarily on the east coast when there are probably just as likely similar options closer to home.

Adding a perennial top 5 like Denver to our Conference would be killer it would also help add John Hopkins those two alone make it a good conference. I think when they look at it too its beneficial for them to play bigger schools than fairfield and hobart which will be the only two teams left outside of Colorado, they need somewhere to go and we might just be the best option especially in the long term if Creighton/Depaul/Xavier pickup lacrosse. Just my opinion I am a strong Denver fan and I like the move I don't like where the ECAC is headed and I doubt Denver is going to get into B1G lacrosse.

Pendant alert guys - it's Johns Hopkins not John Hopkins ;)

I only really brought them up as I'd rather have affiliations with schools who don't have other interests in other D1 conferences. Realistically if they were to align with a conference they'd most likely go to the ACC over the B1G as you've got some of the most prolific lax teams in the history of the sport already there.

No, B1G even considering Johns Hopkins is a little shocking. I get the appeal of Denver, but they're so far west. Why do that before looking to the east? Maybe Loyola would like the association, I don't know, but why Denver before them? Loyola has some conference history with our lacrosse teams, Denver does not. I'm aware they just joined the Patriot, so maybe that is a roadblock, but still, why look west? The Big East has to look out for the Big East, not Denver.

Also, if Creighton/Depaul/Xavier pick up lacrosse, no affiliate is a good partner. ...except maybe a school that only offers no DI but lacrosse since they have their whole DI identity with you.

Corrected, and completely agreed on the rest.
