For what it's worth I've heard the draft this year is as deep into the end of the first round / beginning of the second round as any draft is...but the Lottery Pick drafts this year are not as strong as other years and not as strong as what is predicted for next year.

Maybe I've just got my tinted glasses on a bit too tight and am hoping for the best for Creighton.

This makes sense considering there isn't a absolute definite top pick this year. Noel could go #1 and he's an unaccomplished, injured frosh. Maybe the top 5 of next year's draft are better (not sure who those 5 would be other than Smart), but McDermott isn't in that range anyway so it doesn't matter.

Maybe it's the lack of a bonafide star up top, but the draft analysts are calling this draft one of the weakest ever.

I think Doug is in a tough spot, because he's not going to help his draft stock much by playing as a senior.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

It's being called weak because of the lottery, though. As someone pointed out already, at least some draft analysts are saying it's a very strong draft for late first and second picks. If McDermott isn't going lottery then that might make next year more attractive. I don't know, I just think we lack too many details to understand what a player is looking at or being advised.

I think DMD is getting better advice than some of these other iffy kids jumping who are not going to get drafted or late-2nd rounders. The Arizona kid who averaged 5 ppg is baffling.

Some of these guys will be likely candidates for a "Where are they now" on ESPN.

From ESPN today

3. Creighton coach Greg McDermott said he and his son have had a lot of discussions in the past week about whether his son Doug, a junior with the Bluejays and a two-time All-American, would return for his senior season or enter the NBA draft. But McDermott said the decision is all Doug's. Doug could use this whole week before finalizing his decision prior to Sunday's deadline. It's rather simple for the Bluejays: If McDermott returns, then Creighton is a Top-25 team. If he does not, then they will enter the new Big East in a rebuilding mode.

Great read here. I especially like the part about bending Kyle Korver's ear. One thing I appreciate about our new league is the like-minded nature of small schools and the "family atmosphere" that results. I love that about Creighton. We take care of our own.

Local TV covering the press conference live. This is a pretty big deal here.
