This is really great news for the league, CU & (I really hope) Doug.
I'm looking forward to seeing him play in person.

This Creighton fan isn't naive enough to believe that there are not some fans of the eastern schools that either (1) may not be all that excited about Creighton's admission to the conference; or (2) aren't be all that excited to go to a game against Creighton. I hope that McDermott's return might help alleviate some of those feelings.

Personally, I am hoping that McDermott's return helps give Creighton some buzz on the east coast that will help in recruiting. I think we could use a little jump start there...

Why would he take the step down Dawg?

As someone pointed out on another thread, starting out w/ 10 teams has the advantage of acquainting fans to their new conference mates by playing home & home w/ every team. If CU is recruiting a kid from NY or NJ he'll have 2 or more opportunities to see them play live close to home. MSG & The Rock are literally a 22 minute train ride door to door. By train - Philly 1 1/2 hrs, DC 3 hrs and Providence 3 1/2 hrs. I'm sure Coach McD & his staff will use their time productively when they make their trips east.

It wasn't a serious suggestion.

2 year starter and team captain Grant Gibbs trying to get a 6th year now which would be huge for Creighton.
