1. I don't think that Biondi leaving or not leaving will have any real effect on SLU's chances to get in the the BE.
2. I don't SLU did anything in particular that kept it out of the BE (thats positive or negative).
3. Yorost, i usually agree with you but I could easily provide an reasonable and solid argument that would say that Creighton was not the best option for 10. I do not see where their resume is clearly better than Slu's, Dayton's, or Richmond's. (Creighton has only played 6 top 100 SOS years in the past 20)
4. I still think Creighton is a good fit to the BE (always have always will)
5. I did not win anything at the derby. (but broke about even)
7. I still think we go to 12 teams soon with an announcement by July 1.
8. I think Marquette's average attendance in lacrosse in a building year only shows the potential for lacrosse for the BE.

There are a lot of people around here (I'm just east of the city) that think Biondi was a problem in the negotiations. Whether it's true or not, who knows. Personally, this is about basketball first and foremost, and Father Biondi's record is 0-0. SLU's bigger issues (to me) were being left behind in Conference USA...and what happened from there.

Lacrosse is going to be huge.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

They're weren't quite an obvious add, but why i favored them... a) they're more consistently high in computer numbers over last 10-15 years b) attendance and support c) clear top program in state d) others were a little easier to poke holes in

Creighton was not an add I felt I could call, but I felt it was the right choice.

Men's? I don't want to be negative about it, but two home games isn't very telling. One was the first ever and the second was Duke,

Yeah, Creighton has some things going for it.

You can't fake 18K a night.

I think the "clear top program in the state" is not as easy as it looks in Missouri.

Trust me i'm not bashing Creighton- Lots of upside... most jay fans on here know i want them and slu in the same conference for the soccer regardless of the Basketball.

However as far as being the best team in their state as being a plus... saying you are the best basketball school in Nebraska is not really much of an accomplishment. Nebraska has never been confused w a basketball school and Neb-Omaha is bottom tier and new to Div 1. Missouri has 5 Div 1 schools, Ohio has over 10 schools, and Virginia has over 10 schools. Its akin to saying the largest grape is bigger than the smallest apple... not necessarily true.

They still are, though. I mad. Ie clear I didn't think they were a knockout, correct? ...couldn't put too much weight in it, could I then?

Best program in state draws eyes, it helps separate them from Dayton who I think matches the best with Creighton in some of the other points, that's all. It's not about population, but outside image, as a culture we divide strongly and judge by state. Call it stupid, but Creighton's image is bolstered by a lack of good basketball in their state. Not that important, just something small I think is good.

Sorry I know this isnt a non-rev thread but the topic was already started.

Yorost I completely understand why you would say this and your right it was a game against a big name team and it was the final home game. But I think there is some more data to look at. This kind of attendance is a huge rarity for regular college lacrosse games(by this I mean any non-tournament). When the average lacrosse stadium is less than 3,000(though newer ones are bigger, and Michigan plays in its 110,000 seat stadium) 4,200 in attendance is a crazy number especially considering Lacrosse has very little penetration in Wisconsin(It is not a varsity sport in high school this mean no in state recruits ouch, Marquette only college in the state with a team, no professional teams). That is great news for Marquette it means Wisconsinites are willing to accept lacrosse as a sport(not just the name of one of their cities) great news for Marquette and the Big East.

Villanova fans I have not forgotten you. Size does matter and you have a very impressive 12,500 seat lacrosse stadium. Thanks for becoming the defacto home of our tournament(at least until we get good enough to use an NFL stadium my guess probably in the future the big east tournament will be in philly at Lincoln Financial field, remember NCAA lax tourneys are very well attended the finals usually host around 45,000 fans thats puts them right behind basketball in attendance)

I'm not sure what this is a response to... but you are forgetting Ball State in the MAC.

tie them all together and you would have a nice 10 team all Indiana conference.

"Best in State" is relative:

Seton Hall - Big East
Rutgers - AAC
FDU - NEC
Monmouth - NEC
NJIT - Great West
Princeton - Ivy
Rider - MAAC
St. Peter's - MAAC

Seton Hall is the best D1 basketball school out of 8 in New Jersey.
Obviously NJ produces a lot of quality players for a lot of out of state schools.
I think that BU, CU & X will love the recruiting exposure coming to NJ & NY.
