Is there a July 1 deadline to add Dayton or SLU?

If I remember right wouldn't Dayton or SLU would need to give notice to the A10 that they were leaving by July 1? If we don't hear anything before then can we assume the league is going to be at 10 schools for a few years at least?

I think that is correct if the Big East or the schools want to save a million bucks each.

I almost thought I remembered June, but maybe that was from discussing 'end of June'.

Gut says that since we haven't heard any rumors lately, I'm guessing they're worrying more right now about setting up the conference and will expand once they have a successful year under their belts.

The deadline is only about saving a few bucks. So it's more or less irrelevant.

SLU has already said it will spend whatever it takes to get into the Big East. An extra million is nothing to them since they will make an extra 2+ mil in TV money per year in the Big East.

Thats about it, but there is a july 1 deadline to set up the league. associates and such or find homes for the non-rev teams or to declare them all as independents. What ever decisions the leagues make will show whether it plans on moving up to 12 full members or not.

Honestly i thought the league would be set up and much better planned. unfortunately it looks like the plan is to start with an interim BE, which has made for odd handicapping. But unless someone knows a fly in the wall at these meetings we are really all down to guess work.

They would have to first decide if Dayton and/or SLU are the correct choices. I am still going on record that when it is all said and done, it will be Richmond and SLU getting invites, and it won't be before July 1st of this year.

Academic calendars begin July 1, so that date is often used. Doesn't look like it will happen soon though.

I don't think it's much of a deadline (the academic year doesn't really factor into it this time).

The Big East might add tems, they might not.

It'll be a good league regardless.
