Hearing a lot of chatter on Jordan & Miller in the last 15 minutes or so...wouldn't be completely surprised to see a coach at Butler by Monday.

Hearing Stevens had talked to several NBA teams recently, my guess is that Collier has been in contact with a few coaches in informal interviews.

So he pretty much tripled his income and even if he fails, can always fall back on another college job. Can't fault him for taking that.

Crazy....

I would say the odds that the BE expands to 12 soon just jumped.

And to agree with everyone else VCU=still low chance of getting in 0 chance over Butler.

See what you want to see I guess.

The league KNOWS that nearly every current coach will not be at their current job 20 years from now. This was inevitable. As is Shaka leaving. You don't make decisions as big as conference realignments based just on who current coaches are.

math....

Pre Stevens... Butler was a decent basketball school that every few years won the Horizon tourney. Stevens turned it into a basketball machine.
Pre Stevens... Butler would not have been considered a BE candidate.... w Stevens you had a hot commodity
Stevens leaving at this point in the season creates a mess with 2014 recruiting and already some 2013 recruits have tweeted that their options are open.

If Butler returns to pre stevens form of being able to simply one of the better Horizon Teams the C7 got less then what they thought they were asking for.
If Butler remains at Stevens form ... nothing is lost.... smooth sailing.

The BE adding did not add Butler simply because they were the best team of the horizon and placed 5th their one year in the A-10. They were added because of the two Nat Champ appearances. these Nat Champs are rightfully or wrongfully attributed to Stevens... If Butler falters under the new head coach the tailspin in the BE as opposed to the Horizon league could be catastrophic at worse and at best much less beneficial in the various computer ranking systems. With a 10 team league you have less of a buffer for poor performing teams. 12 teams you get more....

What I am not saying is that the BE will expand and am also not saying that Butler is a bad school or will become a bad school
What i am saying is that if Butler falters the BE might be forced to expand and that Butler faltering is a possibility... just look at other programs that loose coaches especially ones so late in the season and important to the program.

Therefore ... the possibility of BE expanding will increase if you were a betting person.

True... but seriously who here really thinks that pre Stevens Butler would have been invited to the BE?

that said I'm crazy shocked at the timing of the announcement. Butler over a Holiday now needs to get a coach... get all of its recruits together and come to jesus... and deal with the future... thats really a shitty thing for an NBA team to do.... I don't blame Stevens its a lot of cash that was thrown at him but crap... I guess business is business

Brad Stevens is 5 months younger than Kevin Garnett.

Still think it's a great move for the coach. Huge payout, and if he fails he can still come back to the college ranks and move into a high tier position really easily.

Butler will be fine. Trust me, as a Xavier fan, we have heard about the walls crashing down upon us after Gillen, Prosser, Matta, and Miller leaving...it just takes a good administration to recognize talent and take advantage of it. And if you look at Butlers history, last two hires were Matta and Stevens. That's as good as you can get.
Always remember that you are unique; just like everyone else
