I can live with this as long as it does not derail Xavier's invite

Did they consult with the MWC about this? Why would they want UConn and Cincy? They add pretty much nothing in the way of football except heightened travel costs and smaller pie slices for the other members. That said, I really don't know how the football pies are cut in the new football world about to take off.

This seems like a major stretch. Is this guy legit?

EDIT:

Neill Ostrout ‏@NeillOstrout

#UConn official refutes story of school having contact with Catholic 7 and MWC, splitting hoops/FB "it's nothing we would consider."

Good! Cause I think that would be a huge mistake, not just for uconn and Cindy but for the c7!

This is a good thing if and only if there is no way for them to exit the league. No way out. Ever. They are contractually tied to us for the next billion years. If we can't get that then we can't take them. We'd just be starting down the road of instability which got us in this mess in the first place. If they are willing to join up permanently, and I mean PERMANENTLY, than this is excellent. Otherwise, no way, no how, get lost.

Bright side, if they do join up that will probably make it much easier for us to keep the Big East name seeing as USF would be the only Big East school left.

I've read this guy before. He turns out to be an idiot more often than not.

He's an old Boston Globe wonk. He's trying to get traffic to his blog and no better way than to make an unexpected claim like this. Disregarding until there's substance would be advisable.

according to someone on a Villanova board. UConn didn't send their president to Dallas with the rest of the football schools.

Sounds like a stretch, but to be fair this guy was beating the national press to the punch on the initial "catholic 7" story
